Meta Launches Muse Spark, Its First AI Models from Superintelligence Labs
Nine months after launching its ambitious artificial intelligence research initiative, Meta has reached a new milestone by introducing the first series of models developed within its Superintelligence Labs: Muse Spark. This move reinforces the company’s strategic direction of heavily investing in AI and integrating these technologies across its global ecosystem.
Multimodal models with advanced capabilities
Muse Spark models are designed as multimodal systems, meaning they can process both text and images. This allows them to deliver richer, more contextual responses, including visual explanations, charts, and complex data interpretations. In addition, they can coordinate so-called “AI sub-agents” — specialised components that perform specific tasks more quickly and efficiently.
Two operating modes: speed vs. depth
Like other advanced AI systems, Muse Spark introduces two distinct modes:
- Instant, focused on speed, for quick and direct responses;
- Thinking is designed for deeper analysis and more complex queries.
According to the company, the Thinking mode can handle challenging topics in science, mathematics, and healthcare. Despite ongoing controversies surrounding AI’s reliability in the medical field, Meta emphasises that its new models can provide highly detailed answers, including visual support.
Rapid integration across existing products
A key element of Meta’s strategy is rapid deployment. Muse Spark will be integrated into the company’s main platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp, enabling billions of users to access the new AI features quickly.
At the same time, Meta is following the path of other tech giants like Google by extending AI beyond software applications. Muse Spark will also be implemented in hardware devices, including the company’s smart glasses, further embedding AI into everyday life.
