Tech and defence leaders also played a key role, including Eric Schmidt, who has advocated for increased use of drone warfare and artificial intelligence in future conflicts. Representatives from companies like Palantir and Anduril Industries were also present, underscoring the growing intersection between AI, defence, and global strategy.
Notable Absence Raises Questions
One surprising development was the absence of billionaire investor Peter Thiel, a long-time Bilderberg steering committee member and influential figure within Trump’s network. His non-attendance has sparked speculation, given his deep ties to both the tech sector and the intelligence community.
Meanwhile, intelligence agencies maintained a visible presence, with several top officials reportedly attending, including the head of MI6.
Greenland Signals Strategic Importance
In a notable first, former Greenland foreign minister Vivian Motzfeldt attended the summit, signalling the Arctic island’s growing geopolitical importance. Her presence is seen as a message that Greenland holds strategic backing within the transatlantic alliance, particularly in discussions around Arctic security.
